On Sunday mornings, our services start with a few announcements as people find their seats, followed by scripture reading and worship in song. (Our music style is contemporary. We sing modern worship songs mixed with updated hymns. We aim to sing gospel-rich, Christ-exalting lyrics, no matter the style). The main part of our service is focused on learning from the Bible as our teaching pastor preaches (or occasionally another one of our pastors or elders). We study through the Bible book by book, verse by verse – an approach called exegetical teaching. We want to let Scripture speak for itself and not pick and choose what we listen to. We wholeheartedly agree with Paul that ¹⁶ All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, ¹⁷ that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17) After the sermon, we alternate weeks between taking communion together (a practice of remembering the crucifixion of Jesus for our sins) and praying together with a specified focus.
