• I grew up in southern Iowa and regularly attended church but did not become a follower of Christ until my freshman year of college.
  • I met my wife Tonya at the University of Northern Iowa. We were married in 2003 and have four kids: Noah, Eli, Dawson, and Kharis.
  • I have a B.A. in Economics from the University of Northern Iowa, and an M.Div. from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Prior to arriving at Fremont E-Free, I served for five years as a student pastor in Amarillo, Texas and for nearly three years as the senior pastor at a church in Tarrytown, New York.
  • I have been greatly influenced over the years by the ministries of John Piper, Russell Moore, and D.A. Carson. I am also indebted to the work of Charles Spurgeon, Martyn Llloyd-Jones, and John Calvin. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with the family and participating in almost any sport. As a lifelong Cyclone fan, I also enjoy watching Iowa State basketball (watching Iowa State football is usually less enjoyable!).
  • One of my favorite verses is Psalm 115:1  “Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to Your name give glory, for the sake of Your steadfast love and Your faithfulness.”
